Soul Rebels opened the show with a great Second Line feel, a good opener. George Porter was great with them. Maybe I am the wrong demographic for Tank and the Bangaz, but nothing about their act made me think of NOLA, and their sound mix did them no favors. Why was Dumpstaphunk next? These guys deserve to come in later, as it gets dark, to get the NOLA vibe humming before Davidson Wildcats Basketball. They were great, and their trombone player showed a lot. I have been to earlier Threauxdowns, and it felt like being in NOLA. It was as if Bruno Mars played trombone. Oxbow River is a soulless venue, constructed to make easy money for Ticketmaster. How I miss Bill Graham! Davidson Wildcats Basketball, your act reminded me of Vegas more than NOLA. lot’s of sizzle, was hoping for more steak. This was not one of them.
